Yes, I’m delving into a bit of the experimental here. I’m starting an internet project on Pinterest. It’s title is
In his later career, Wittgenstein proposed that the meaning of a word is determined by it’s “overlapping and criss-crossing similarities”. I want to put that to the test for us non-believers and skeptics. So what makes you happy?
Is it a particular song, a place, a poem, a person? Is it love, camaraderie, friendship? Is it a Sunday football game, playing with your kids in the park, or sleeping in on the weekend. Is it the first cup of coffee in the morning or the last word you read at night. If you can find it or put in on Pinterest, I want to do a crazy big analysis of what makes people happy in the “tradition” of Wittgenstein. (I use air quotes because the work in which he proposed the family resemblance concept was published posthumously)
If you would like to participate in the project, get ahold of me via my social media links on this page, the sidebar or my home page. You can also fill out the form at the bottom of this page or on my Contact Me page.
You’ll need to follow me on Pinterest and then send me a message saying you’re interested in participating. I’ll add you to the board and voila, project on.
I’ve even started some pins already.
Joining Pinterest is free. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but in the interest of (somewhat) academics, it’s worth a shot.
